Class II Splice for Core Dependent Rope

Ropes that are core dependent require a Class II Splice. Our on site splicing department is thoroughly trained on this unique splice.

This is a pretty cool splice. It is unique in the sense that it is the only splice to be used by core dependent ropes. Because of the unique construction of these ropes, this splice was developed to give nearly 100% of the breaking strength of the rope through the splice. If you need your core dependent line spliced, then choose this option. We can make any sized eye splice you like, and we can put a thimble in the eye if you wish. Use this splice for the following ropes:

All double braid ropes (sometimes referred to as a kernmantle) have a jacket braided over a core. In most double braid ropes the strength is a combination of the jacket and the core working together for maximum strength. Recent developments in rope technology have giving us CORE dependent ropes. This means the strength is completely in the core, the cover is there for additional grip and/or UV and abrasion protection. For these special ropes, we need to use a CORE DEPENDENT splice, which is what is photographed above.
