Get to Know Dr. Jennifer Wilson

For Dr. Jennifer Wilson, medicine is more than a profession—it’s a lifelong curiosity about how the body works and its remarkable ability to adapt and heal. As a board-certified physician at OSU Medicine, she brings both clinical expertise and a passion for teaching to every patient interaction.

“The unique opportunity to see patients and teach in a positive environment that embraces osteopathic medicine is what attracted me to OSU Medicine and Tulsa,” she shares. That dual role is central to her work, shaping not only how she practices, but how she helps train the next generation of physicians.

Dr. Wilson’s path to medicine was rooted in a deep interest in the human body. “I love learning about the human body, how it functions, and its capacity for change,” she says. That curiosity led her to specialize in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (NMM), a field that takes a hands-on, highly targeted approach to care. “I chose NMM for its highly specialized approach to affect target muscle, fascia, and bone to improve function, reduce pain, and overall improve the health of a person.”

Patients visiting Dr. Wilson can expect a thoughtful, individualized experience from the very first appointment. “Individualized attention, a personalized treatment plan, respect, and caring,” is how she describes her approach. Her work often focuses on helping patients regain mobility and reduce discomfort, treating conditions such as musculoskeletal pain, loss of function, degenerative joint issues, and sports injuries.

While her clinical expertise is extensive, her advice to patients is refreshingly simple: “Move your body, with intention, for 20 minutes, every day.” It’s a philosophy that reflects her broader belief in the body’s ability to heal and function at its best when given the right support.

That belief also extends to her work within the OMM clinic, where the focus is on creating balance within the body. “The OMM clinic specializes in optimizing musculoskeletal balance, creating an environment in which the body can function at its best,” she explains.

In addition to patient care, Dr. Wilson is deeply committed to education. “We are a teaching clinic. Medical students and residents are involved in almost every patient we see,” she says. “We place value in teaching and refining the skills required for this profession.” Her role allows her to influence not only individual patient outcomes, but also the future of osteopathic medicine.

Her perspective is also shaped by her extensive training. Dr. Wilson completed medical school at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, followed by a Family Medicine residency at Largo Medical Center in Florida, and an NMM residency at OSU Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa. She is double board certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, as well as in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/OMM.

Looking ahead, she sees an important shift happening in healthcare. “The value and power of touch in an AI-driven digital world,” she says, is one of the most meaningful trends shaping her field—reinforcing the importance of human connection in patient care.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Wilson stays just as active as the advice she gives her patients. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family—running, cycling, hiking, and being at the lake. Her love of exploration also extends beyond the outdoors. “Growing up overseas fostered my love for travel,” she shares. “I try to travel to a new country every year.”

Through her work, Dr. Wilson brings together hands-on care, thoughtful movement, and a commitment to teaching—helping patients not only feel better, but function better in their everyday lives.
