Getting to Know Dr. Sophia Korman

Meet Dr. Sophia Korman, a family medicine physician who loves getting to know patients and caring for entire families at our Harvard clinic. She believes in shared decision-making, preventive care, and creating a comfortable, open environment where patients feel heard. When she’s not in the clinic, she enjoys exploring local restaurants, long walks, reading, and traveling. Fun fact: she took her first international flight at just three months old!

What attracted you to OSU Medicine?
The culture and the people. Everyone in my office is caring, kind, supportive, and a true team player. It’s great vibes—we have a lot of fun together.

What inspired you to choose Family Medicine?
I love getting to know patients and forming long-term connections. Family Medicine allows me to care for people of all ages and even entire families. Preventive care is especially important to me.

How would you describe your approach to patient care?
I believe in shared decision-making and open conversations. I want patients to feel comfortable, involved, and heard. I also stay up-to-date on the latest evidence and guidelines to provide the best care possible.

What conditions or concerns do you commonly treat?
As a primary care physician, I see a wide range of concerns—from preventive screenings to chronic conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, anxiety, depression, migraines, asthma, obesity, osteoporosis, and women’s health issues.

What excites you most about serving this community?
The people. Everyone has been incredibly friendly and welcoming, and there’s a strong sense of community and rich culture here in Tulsa.

What are you enjoying exploring in Oklahoma?
I’m working through a long list of restaurants and cafés. I’ve loved visiting Philbrook, the Gathering Place, and the Tulsa Botanic Gardens, and I’m hoping to explore more museums soon.

What do you enjoy outside of work?
Trying new restaurants, going on long walks, reading, and traveling overseas.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I took my first international flight when I was just three months old.

Both! Coffee in the morning, tea in the evening—and I love matcha!

Favorite book or show?
Piranesi is a favorite book, and Agatha Christie is my most-read author. For TV, I love Severance.
